The history of the Minneapolis music scene is rife with original and influential artists. Bob Dylan, The Replacements and Cornbread Harris are just a few that come to mind. The atmosphere surrounding that frigid piece of tundra metropolis urges the artistic soul to go forth and create something new. What Tyrants boldly carry the torch of originality onward, poised to inherit Minnesotas musical throne of influence.
What Tyrants was born in the summer of 2011, when Sean Schultz laid d.. More >>own an 8 track home demo with his ivory keys. Brother Kyle was quickly recruited to play drums. They have a natural chemistry together, years of making music under various monikers, even recording with local rapper made good POS of Doomtree.
Nick Stotesbery was the next band member to dissolve from the ether. Wielding wielding a guitar, expelling 70's fuzz. Nick adds a vital punch to the bluesy What Tyrants sound. His solos stick to the ribs and his brawling riffs electrify the music. With their foundation of Blues and Rock well solidified, What Tyrants sought the garnish that would push their sonic entre into the realm of the unique.
Enter Adam Sullivan. From the moment he layered his bass over the already stomping beat, What Tyrants was fully realized. Enhanced with a dash of funk, the band was finally ready to unleash their creation upon the world. Riding a high of jangly pianos and unique rhythms, What Tyrants have mastered an imaginative take between blues & soul.
What Tyrants delivers the kind of controlled chaos that busts microphones, melts faces and speaks to the animal within. A true blue Vox populi outfit. Swim in the torrent of crescendo. Bask in the warm timbre of electric keys. What Tyrants These Tyrants.
